Have you noticed the marketing strategies of companies in our society today? For example, when you go to the grocery store, the kid cereals (e.g. Lucky Charms, Fruit Loops, etc.) are located near the eye level of a child where as the health-freak, bran, high-fiber cereals are located on higher shelves in order to match adult eye levels.

Some strategies are even blatant. Take the Sprite commercial for example. Who do you think their target audience is? A middle class 40 year old white male? Probably...if they used the phrase "Please show the audience my motto" instead of "Show 'em my motto!!!" [in a relatively high pitched voice].

A good friend of mine pointed me to a great picture on line. This is what would happen if Microsoft followed Sprite's marketing strategy. Enjoy.

Remote Access Still Blows

My grandma will be leaving back to Wichita, KS this Wednesday so I decided to work from home for the entire week. You would think with all the technology we have today working remotely should be easy. Well, it's not. It sucks!! Everything is so damn slow and you lose connection constantly (I have to log in to a VPN for access purposes).

Here's my solution: quit researching and developing worthless crap like adding video recording functionality to cell phones and improve more important products. Why the hell would anyone need that crap on a cell phone? Just use the damn thing to make calls.

A Little Som'n Som'n For Myself

Found this little cool figurine in a shop in Highlands, NC. I would have preferred Duke's mascot in place of the wolf but this will have to do. I wonder if it would be against any office politics to have this at my desk?

Highlands, NC

Just got back from my week vacation at Highlands, NC. This is a picture of Michelle, me, and my maternal grandma in front of Dry Falls.

Highlands is no spring break in Cancun but is rather suited for the more gentle being. There are hiking trails, tons of waterfalls (some of which are quite lame), and shopping. The great thing about it though was the weather. Since you're about 4100 ft above sea level it doesn't get much warmer than 80 degrees. The evenings are even better!!

I definitely had a good time there. Unfortunately, due to the limitations of my grandma we weren't able to fully enjoy everything that Highlands had to offer. I would recommend taking a tent out there and camping somewhere in the woods with a cooler full of beer and a bon fire.
